Steve Bate

I’m 6’ 2” New Zealander based in the UK racing bikes for a living, whose interests are wild bike packing adventures in winter conditions and messing about in my workshop making thing from wood. And messing around with my dog Murphy!

FAVORITE, OR MOST NOTABLE, WINTER FAT BIKE ACCOMPLISHMENT OR EXPERIENCE:

I attempted the Highland Trail 550 a couple of years go in the worst winter in Scotland for 30 years! I ended up having to bail with frost bite, aside from that, it was an amazing time pushing myself to the absolute limit in a beautifully wild place.

Favorite Gear

I’ve got far too many to choose from. Maybe my Wölvhammer BOA boots or the Vanhelga tires…it’s tough to call. The gloves are mint as well!
